NOTICE OF CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION POLICE OFFICER MARCH 2, 2019
The City of Richmond Heights Civil Service Commission will give an open competitive written examination for the position of entry level Police Officer on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 9:00 a.m., in the Richmond Heights High School cafeteria, 447 Richmond Road, Richmond Heights. Applications for the test may be obtained at www.RichmondHeightsOhio.org or at the Office of the Mayor, Richmond Heights City Hall, located at 26789 Highland Road, Richmond Heights, Ohio 44143, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. All applications must be made on forms provided by the Civil Service Commission. Completed applications must be delivered to the Office of the Mayor, at the address listed above, no later than February 22, 2019. The applicant must pay a non-refundable fee of $25.00, payable by check or money order, which must be included with the application. NSF checks will exclude the applicant from the test. Every applicant must be a U.S. citizen and be at least 21 years of age as of the date of the written examination. No person 35 years of age or older will be eligible to receive an appointment. Applicants must provide the Commission a current Certificate of Completion of the Police Officer Standardized Physical Agility Exam from Cuyahoga Community College no later than March 22 at the Office of the Mayor. Information about the Agility Exam may be obtained by calling 216-987-3033. All applicants must pass a written examination, a background check including polygraph, a psychological assessment, and an oral interview prior to appointment. Medical examinations are also required prior to hiring. The applicant must be in good physical condition and capable of performing the physical functions required of a Police Officer. A minimum grade of 70% on the written examination is required to qualify for additional testing and possible appointment by the Mayor.

Special Projects/Secretary
Part-Time Position


The City of Richmond Heights is currently seeking an experienced Special Projects/Secretary to work up to 28 hours per week. The primary role of this position is to support the Mayor and his team. Responsibilities vary greatly and include, but are not limited to: Assisting with special event planning and fundraising activities; updating/editing existing information; assist with writing/editing of quarterly newsletter and bi-monthly e-newsletter; developing professional, visually stimulating flyers to advertise City-wide events; answering phones and greeting visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor; updating the City website / message board; answers phone calls and serves as a primary contact for residents, City officials, and the general public regarding services and/or events.

Qualifications: Must have previous secretarial experience and demonstrated computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. The ideal candidate will be proficient in graphic design software (Microsoft Publisher, Adobe InDesign or similar) and will have previous experience using website editing software. Extremely organized with superb attention to detail. Strong written and oral communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with City officials, residents and business organizations. Demonstrated ability to work independently while meeting concurrent deadlines. Ability to work as a dedicated team member in a fast-paced and diverse environment. Creative mindset with great problem-solving skills. Handles high pressure situations with grace and good humor.

Part-Time Firefighters:

The Richmond Heights Division of Fire is currently seeking applications for part-time firefighters. All applicants must possess Firefighter II and Paramedic certifications. Interested candidates can pick up an employment application at Richmond Heights City Hall located at 26789 Highland Road during the business hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
