The Police Prosecutor is an attorney-at-law designated by the Director of Law and subject to the approval of a majority of the members of Council. The Police Prosecutor performs the duties of prosecutor in the Lyndhurst Municipal Court as directed by the Mayor.

The Director of Law serves the City in all proceedings in court or before any administrative body and performs other duties as may be imposed by law upon solicitors of municipalities.
