The Recreation Department is administered by a seven-member board,
which meets the third Monday of each month. The Recreation
Director is chairman of this board. Council appoints the other six
members
with four being recommended by the Mayor and two by the Richmond
Heights Board of Education. The Recreation Director, Assistant Director,
and a Secretary are all year-round employees within the Recreation
Department. All other employees of the Recreation Department
are seasonal. The city’s Service
Department maintains the parks, buildings, and facilities.
The Recreation Board strives to provide a variety of programming
for residents of all ages and interests. Residents can take an active
part in planning and assisting with recreation programs. Residents
are urged to offer input at board meetings in person or by mail.
Recreation facilities include: Two parks
(Richmond Heights Community Park at 27285 Highland Road MAP and DeSan Park at 479 Trebisky Road MAP),
eight ball fields, four tennis courts, a club-like swimming pool with sprayground,
three bocce courts, shuffle-board courts, gazebo for band concerts, two picnic areas with tables and
grills,
outdoor picnic pavilion, two playground
areas, a community building with two large halls for rental by
residents, and the use of the Richmond Heights school facilities
which includes three gymnasiums.

Youth Basketball Program
The Richmond Heights Youth Basketball Program has started! Games are on Saturday morning’s beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Richmond Heights Middle School Gymnasium. The season will run through Saturday, February 27
