The Recreation Board (Rec. Board) consists of seven electors of the City, not holding other municipal office, who are appointed by the Mayor with the concurrence of a majority of the members of Council. Two members appointed by the Mayor are made by recommendation of the Board of Education of the Richmond Heights Local School District which members may not be members of the Board of Education. One of the members appointed by the Mayor is the Director of Recreation for the City who serves as Chair of the Recreation Board.
The Recreation Board functions to adopt and to operate recreation programs for adult and child residents of the City. The Rec. Board determines fees to be charged for each program and schedules; regulates and enforces policies in all recreation areas.
The Recreation Board also coordinates city Recreation events such as Family Day, the Fall Craft Show, Breakfast with Santa, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, and many more events.
